Family Adventure at Tinker Falls in Syracuse, NY
A little bit about me: I love the outdoors. I love spending time in nature hiking, exploring, and visiting all of central New York’s best parks. But when I get a chance to combine my love of the outdoors with my passion for photography? Now that’s my dream session, just like this little family adventure with Emily, Kobe, and Mila at Tinker Falls.
Emily knew she wanted something extra special for their most recent family session. She knew I loved hiking, and so do they, so a waterfall photo shoot sounded like the perfect way to capture their adventurous family.
Tinker Falls can be found down a short trail in the Labrador Hollow Unique Area, just outside of Syracuse. The 50-foot waterfall features a natural rock amphitheater behind it and shallow water with plenty of large rocks to play on. We started off taking photos behind the waterfall, then finished the hike all the way to the top of the falls.
Mila absolutely loves all things nature - the rocks, trees, and all the sounds, so she was a happy little girl the entire way, which made my job super easy and resulted in a lot of great photos. Emily and Kobe took turns getting some individual shots with Mila. They all dipped their feet in the running water, and helped Mila walk along some downed trees. We wrapped things up with some shots of all three of them and one of all of their hands.
Sessions like these are such a joy! When families get out and do something they truly love (or share a fun new family adventure together), it makes for the most unique, special, and genuine images. Not only that, but it imprints the session in their memories as a time they got to enjoy each other, instead of the cliche “look here and smile” pictures. If this sounds like your kind of family photoshoot, send me a message. I would love to photograph more family adventure sessions!
