Amara + Garrett's Sunrise Engagement Photos
A lot of people don’t realize that the golden hour actually happens twice per day - once in the morning right before the sun comes up over the horizon, and again in the evening, as the sun is setting. The biggest benefit to sunrise engagement photos is you usually end up with way fewer people and cars in your way when you’re trying to get that perfect shot. Amara and Garrett’s downtown engagement photos are a perfect example of that; it truly felt like we had all of downtown Syracuse to ourselves!
It wasn’t long after getting engaged during a hike on Bald Mountain in the Adirondacks that Amara and Garrett reached out to me. They were scouring photos of Francesca's Cucina weddings (where they were planning to get married pre-Covid), when they stumbled across my blog post of Tori & Matt’s intimate nuptials.
We met up for their downtown engagement photos near the Museum of Science and Technology and spent some time exploring downtown Syracuse’s alleys and empty streets. We climbed to the top of the SKY armory parking garage, where the light was absolutely perfect. Next, we headed towards Clinton Square for a few photos, before making our way around the park and walking to Hanover Square for some shots under the lanterns.
The sun finally showed up, and we grabbed a few last sunrise engagement photos near the Erie Canal Museum with the light shining brightly behind them. I made sure to snap a few pictures highlighting Amara’s engagement ring, then we got some of her grandmother’s amazingly unique ring as well.
It’s not often that I’m up and moving before the sun, but it was so worth it on this day. The gorgeous golden hour light allowed us to create some seriously magical sunrise engagement photos for Amara and Garrett. I highly recommend this for future sessions!
Amara and Garrett were recently married in Florida, surrounded by their immediate families. The wedding looks so stunning! I can’t wait to see their journey together as husband and wife.
