Annie + Jake’s Deployment Photos at Franklin Square Park
Annie and Jake knew this moment was coming. Jake was set to be deployed, so they planned their wedding for earlier this year, which I had the pleasure of photographing. But that day was a celebration of the two of them becoming husband and wife. Annie wanted photos before Jake left - something to document the unique experience of being a military family in the face of deployment. It was so sweet of her to ask me to photograph them for this special couple’s photoshoot.
The three of us met up at Franklin Square Park in Syracuse, NY. Little did we realize that being a Saturday in the middle of prom season, this was one of the busiest days of the year for this small park. But we worked around the crowds, found some excellent hidden spots, and you’d never know from the photos how packed it was!
I knew just how important these deployment photos were to Annie and Jake. I loved being able to incorporate the ideas they brought to the session, along with the props that added such a personal touch. I spent the entire time just walking around, catching up since their wedding, and snapping adorable photos of this happy couple. I so appreciate when my wedding clients become friends, and when my friends then trust me to photograph their life events again and again!
Thank you, Jake, for your service to our country. I know you have a whole tribe of people supporting you from afar and excitedly awaiting your arrival back home. Once he returns and everything has settled down a bit, I’ll be photographing Annie and Jake’s larger rescheduled wedding. Can’t wait!
