Elizabeth + Alexandre’s Chapel Wedding in Mendon, NY
Lizzy and Alex planned a sweet chapel wedding at Westminster Weddings & Events that was traditional in every sense except for one - it took place in the morning. But I love a good brunch wedding, and these two made my job so easy! Their love for each other radiated from their faces on this beautiful November day.
I started off at Lizzy and Alex’s house, where Lizzy was looking stellar in her dress. I snapped some photos of her details while her crew finished getting ready. I love all the special items they included in their day and how the Bridesmaid dresses and flowers created a warm palette of fall wedding colors. Meanwhile, Alex and his groomsmen were getting ready at a nearby hotel. The guys were all decked out in personalized NFL t-shirts, so I pulled them outside for a quick game of catch.
Lizzy and Alex chose a traditional wedding ceremony and didn’t want to see each other beforehand, so we planned a first touch. I found this folded wooden divider inside the church, which made for the perfect location for this private moment. They held hands and said a quick prayer as they both grinned wildly in anticipation of seeing each other. It was emotion-filled and perfect for the two of them!
The ceremony took place inside the chapel on the Westminster property. It was important for them to have a ceremony rooted in faith, so having this on-site chapel was a big deciding factor when choosing from the many Central NY wedding venues. Alex was so excited to see Lizzy turn the corner and walk down the aisle - it was the sweetest! After they said “I do,” they performed their own special handshake, then sealed their marriage with a kiss. Outside, family and friends filled the air with bubbles as they exited the chapel.
We all headed to a nearby park to take photos. I was so relieved that the storm clouds from earlier had passed and the sun was out in full force for photos of the two of them. It was such a joy photographing Lizzy and Alex - their love and excitement was so pure!
The reception kicked off with their first dance. The space was decked out in pumpkins and subtle fall colors, and the string lights hanging overhead gave the dance floor a dreamy feel. Lizzy shared a special dance with her dad, then we went into toasts before lunch was served. The rest of the reception was filled with dancing, sweets, and plenty of touching moments.
I’m so honored to have been asked to document Lizzy and Alex’s love story. Their wedding was the best way to end my 2022 wedding season!
