Emily + Ben's Backyard Wedding Ceremony in Canandaigua

When Covid forced Emily and Ben to postpone their wedding at The Cracker Factory, I had no idea I would end up photographing their intimate backyard wedding ceremony instead. Their change in plans presented them with the opportunity for a much more relaxed and personal wedding day, which kicked off with a tear-filled father-daughter first look between Emily and her dad.

They exchanged vows during a short but sweet backyard wedding ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends. Ben’s grandfather led the perfect wedding day prayer before the happy couple said “I do.”

We snapped a few photos with the Bride and Groom before heading over to Canandaigua Lake for portraits. Celebrating your wedding with your dog by your side is a dream for a lot of couples, so naturally, we included their pup Guinness in some of the wedding photos by the lake. The glistening willow tree branches at Canandaigua Lake made for a gorgeous backdrop for Emily and Ben’s portraits.

After Bride and Groom photos, we headed back to the house for a few final family portraits before dinner, which Emily and Ben graciously let me partake in. They had an epic donut wall which was a huge hit with the wedding guests. Their reception was the perfect blend of simple yet classic DIY wedding ideas mixed with help from some of the best Finger Lakes region caterers available.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
