Jennifer + Steve’s Southwick Beach Engagement Session

This spring engagement session at Southwick Beach was the perfect way to kick off my 2021 wedding season. Jennifer and Steve booked me for their August wedding, but when they told me they wanted to add an engagement session as well, I was thrilled.

A lot of engaged couples are hesitant to do an engagement shoot. They tell me they don’t know how to pose or they’re “totally awkward” in front of a camera. Luckily, breaking through that block is my special photographer superpower! The big secret is that you don’t need to know how to pose or even what to do with your hands in order to have fantastic and memorable photos. Telling you what to do is my job, and I always make sure it’s a fun one.

Jennifer and Steve chose Southwick Beach for their shoot location. Steve’s family has been coming up to the lake for ages, so the couple has spent plenty of time hanging out at his familys’ cabins nearby. To say they love the area would be an understatement.

To add to the laid-back vacation vibes of this shoot, they brought their super chill golden retriever, Blueberry, along with for some dog engagement photos. (I can’t continue without pointing out the utter adorableness of that name. Okay, moving on.) Blueberry is a beach-lover at heart and had a blast running around with his ball and showing off his handsome bowtie for the camera. After having fun snapping some beach engagement photos, we took a break so Jennifer and Steve could change into something dressier.

Blueberry sported a sweet little sign that said “my humans are getting married.” We walked along the boardwalk before snapping one last photo while the sun set on Southwick Beach.

The non-stop smiles from this session make my heart so happy. I’m looking forward to Jennifer and Steve’s Arlington Acres wedding. I’m sure it will be filled with special moments and lots of joy.
