Margot + Simon's Hiking Engagement Photos at Clark Reservation

Sometimes I get couples who are self-conscious about their height difference. It may be that one of them is much taller than the other, or that they’re about the same height (but one of them wants to wear heels). It’s rare, however, to get a couple that loves and embraces their height difference like Margot and Simon. This super sweet couple wanted some hiking engagement photos at Clark Reservation, and asked me not to downplay this unique aspect of their relationship.

Let me clarify that when I call this an engagement session, it was technically a couples session, since these two actually tied the knot last year. I saw a lot of that in 2020 and 2021 - couples who didn’t want to wait for the end of the pandemic to proclaim their love, but still wanted the traditional wedding with friends and family once things were a little safer. I was so excited that I could serve them for both their summer engagement pictures and their intimate fall wedding at Windridge Estate RedBarn 20 (stay tuned for those amazing photos!).

We met up for their couples session on one of the hottest days in July. Clark Reservation State Park is one of my absolute favorite local hiking spots, so it was fun to explore it with a camera in hand. Margot and Simon loved all the rock formations, so we were sure to take plenty of photos as we made our way up to the overlook.

We snapped some laidback hiking engagement photos in Dry Lake as the sun started to set on the rocks behind them. The photos themselves turned out so magical that you’d never know we were being eaten alive by mosquitoes! Margot and Simon finished up the shoot on the other side of the park right as the golden sunset lit up the treetops.

It was great learning more about them during their couples session, and it made me super excited to celebrate their marriage with family and friends!
