Prichard Family Photoshoot at Home in Central NY
The Prichard Family reached out to schedule a photoshoot at home with their daughter Madison. Stefanie and Joey were in the process of selling their house, and since it was the home where they first raised their daughter, they wanted to document the occasion with some lifestyle family photography. I had the honor of photographing Stefanie and Joey’s wedding, then worked with them again for extended family photos, so we all feel really comfortable with each other. I love repeat clients, especially ones that I’ve known since the beginning of their relationship!
Having a photoshoot at home is so much fun! It has such an intimate feel to it, which lets everyone relax a little more and focus on just making memories. Along with that, I’ll never stop appreciating how special it is to be invited into someone’s home to document their day-to-day lives. When they look back at their family photo session decades from now, it’ll feel that much more special because it shows the real them.
Stefanie came to the session with a list of ideas - things that they do as a family on a regular (or special) occasion that would make for good moments to photograph, so we started out in the living room and worked our way around the house. Stefanie and Joey had a tea party with Madison and her little tea set, then read her some stories. She must’ve thought this was such a fun day with Mom and Dad! Their dog wanted in on the action too, and I’ll never say no to a furry family member! When Stefanie pulled out a plate of cookies for them to share, their dog was right there waiting for a bite.
It was the perfect weather outside and the leaves were at their peak, so we headed out for some classic fall family photos in the woods behind their house. I love how these photos give a totally different feel to the session. I loved the ones with their house in the background.
We headed back to the house, where they had some fun throwing leaves at eachother. Madison really got into it! We snapped one final photo in front of their “For Sale” sign. Stefanie’s mom is their realtor, and I just adore the cute little “sold” sign with the heart.
What a fun session! I loved creating these memories with them of a home that played such an important part in building their family.
