Julia + John, Backyard Wedding, West Monroe, NY
Julia reached out to me to photograph her engagement with John in March, in the snow, and after those pictures, they had to have me photograph their wedding too!! They got married on the 10th of August in the backyard of Julia’s parents’ house, called The White House.
This is a stunning DIY backyard wedding. A lot of the items they used to create this day were found and refurbished to use as wedding decor - the dressers (for donuts!), chairs for outdoor seating and pictures, rugs for the aisle leading up to the ornate black arbor where they said vows. Julia and the girls got ready in her parents’ house, and John and the guys with their son got ready next door.
Their ceremony had all of the moody, romantic, fairytale vibes. It was a dream! After the ceremony, we took family and bridal pictures underneath the apple trees. Then, it was time for pictures with the two of them! We laughed and had fun, allowing them to relax before the really party started!
They had a stunning charcuterie board for cocktail hour complete with caricatures that lasted all night long. They were introduced, had toasts, dinner, cut their beautiful strawberry cheesecake, and had first dances underneath their tent in the front yard. They danced all night long until Julia’s dad started a massive bonfire behind their house. It was the perfect way to end their day!
