Amanda + Sam’s Proposal Pictures on Skaneateles Lake
Sam reached out to me with plans for a surprise propose with his girlfriend, Amanda, overlooking Skaneateles Lake. He knew the moment was a big one, and wanted me to come along and capture it as a proposal photographer. We chatted back and forth through the month of March, then it was time to take the plunge. Sam was living in Syracuse at the time and Amanda was living in Rochester, so she made the drive over to Skaneateles NY for a dinner date at Sherwood Inn and they met at Thayer Park beforehand.
We got a pretty big snowfall the night before, so I arrived extra early to make sure the location would still work. There were a few paths shoveled through the park, but most of the fresh snow was untouched and looked beautiful. I texted Sam and let him know that I was ready for them!
There must’ve been a school dance happening nearby, because teenagers kept arriving at the park in suits and gowns to take pre-dance pictures. All the commotion made me nervous while I waited for Amanda and Sam. I perked up the moment I saw them approaching. I didn’t want it to be obvious I was waiting for them, so I hid out near the shops along the street. As soon as they turned to enter the park, I quietly started following behind them.
It was so sweet watching them from a distance as Sam got into position. He pulled the ring box out of his pocket and Amanda’s face completely changed - she was so excited! Sam dropped to his knee and Amanda was frozen in shock for a moment before immediately saying yes and lunging at him for a kiss.
I let them soak in the moment alone for a bit before introducing myself and congratulating them. We took some posed proposal photos in front of Skaneateles Lake, then moved over to do some walking photos along the street, where the untouched snow made for such cozy winter photos.
Amanda’s engagement ring was gorgeous, so I made sure to photograph it up close before saying goodbye. After all, they had a dinner reservation to get to!
Congratulations, you two! I’m overjoyed that I got to be a part of this special moment in your relationship. I wish you both the very best!
