Carly + Hunter’s Foggy Photoshoot at Labrador Hollow

Engaged couple holding hands in the forest during a photoshoot at Tinker Falls in Central NY

Ever since the day that Carly and Hunter reached out to me about engagement photos, the plan was to take sunrise engagement photos in the fall. We decided on Labrador Hollow in Tully, NY because we knew the rising sun would look amazing shining across the pond and would really make the fall colors pop. But when the day finally arrived and we arrived at Labrador Pond, the entire area was coated in a dense fog. I'm not being overdramatic when I say that we couldn’t see more than a few feet in front of us. As cool as that was, it didn't make for very good photoshoot conditions, so we changed plans and drove down the road to Tinker Falls for the start of our session.

When we arrived at the waterfall, it was still early, and the forest was really dark. But it was beautiful watching the whole area wake up and transition into color as the sun rose. Carly and Hunter were so much fun to photograph! The entire session was full of giggles, and whenever I gave them a creative suggestion or prompt, they went 100% all-in. This is especially apparent in the photos where I asked them to throw leaves in the air. I love how those pictures turned out!

After spending a while at Tinker Falls, we figured we would take our chances back at Labrador Pond to see if the fog had cleared. It had, but not completely - which was honestly perfection. The area was truly stunning with the fog rolling over the water and up the hills in the background. Their yellow outfits coordinated so well with the changing leaves and golden morning light. It was just how we'd imagined when we first started planning their session.

Carly and Hunter brought along a bottle of champagne and a blanket so they could enjoy a little champagne picnic by the water. Everything with them felt so casual and effortless, and this was no different. I loved how cute those images ended up being! Overall, it was such a fun morning. Evening tends to be the most asked-about time for an engagement session, but I'm always up for an early morning photoshoot if you have an idea for one. Some locations truly thrive in those sunrise hours. If this sounds like your kinds of engagement session (or even if it doesn’t!), send me a message and let's connect!
