Emily + Mack’s Forest Photoshoot at Green Lakes State Park
After Emily and Mack booked me as their wedding photographer, we wasted no time in planning their fall engagement session at one of my favorite locations, Green Lakes State Park. We compared calendars and selected a weekend they had already planned to be in town. I was excited to meet up for their forest photoshoot!
The day arrived, and it was gorgeous - cloudy but bright, with plenty of fall colors both in the trees and on the ground. We started off by the boathouse, snapping pictures on the dock with the blue glass-like water in the background. I love using walking poses to get my couples warmed up at the beginning of an engagement session.
We worked our way around the lake, exploring the trails as we went. Now that they were loosened up and enjoying themselves, we did some seated poses to create a cozy feel. The Old Administration building stairs weren’t being used, so we headed that way and took some photos from the top. The view from that angle is stunning with the changing colors reflecting off the lake.
This day was one of those perfect fall days where there seems to be an abundance of leaves, but the trees aren’t yet bare. There were so many leaves on the ground, so we made sure to get some playful poses with them throwing them up in the air. I love the juxtaposition of their dressier attire and these fun pictures. After that, I encouraged them to explore the area on their own, and I took some candid photos.
After our session, Emily and Mack had plans to meet their parents for dinner just up the hill at the Yards Grille. Emily asked that I join them for some photos from the restaurant, and I’m so happy she did. You can see the whole park from up there and it was gorgeous!
I cannot wait for their wedding at The Lookout at Greek Peak this August!
