Dana + Dmitri’s Wedding at Sky Armory in Syracuse, NY

Dana and Dmitri’s four-year engagement ended with an intimate wedding at Sky Armory in Syracuse, NY. When Dana originally reached out to me, I immediately fell in love with the story of their relationship. They both received their PhDs from SUNY Upstate Medical University, then ended up taking jobs in the science department at the University of Notre Dame. Their goal was to keep the wedding small, surrounding themselves with their family and closest friends, and they succeeded! A small intimate wedding means a more relaxed photography schedule as well, which was fun for all of us.

We met up at the SUNY Upstate campus to get some photos of them before the ceremony, and I loved how they turned out! It was a cloudy November day, but about halfway through our photos, the sun peeked out ever so slightly, which gave the happy couple the perfect glow. The fall colors on campus were at peak awesomeness, and Dmitri’s green velvet suit jacket looked fantastic against the colorful backdrop. The green suit, along with the eye-looking gems on Dana’s shoes were intentional choices to represent their love of science.

Once over at Sky Armory, we waited for their guests to arrive, then began the ceremony. I learned that in Russia, they wear their wedding rings on their right hand, which I found super interesting! So being that Dmitri is Russian, that’s where the two of them placed their new rings when the moment came. The ceremony was short and sweet, then we took a few family photos.

The reception was cocktail-style, which fit the laid-back personality of the entire day perfectly. Dana and Dmitri cut their cake, then spent the rest of the time mingling with family and friends while I snapped candids. These two were the sweetest, and I’m thrilled I had the opportunity to document their long-awaited wedding day. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!
