Devorah & Nick’s Cozy Fall Pictures at Green Lakes State Park
One of my favorite places in Central NY to take engagement photos is Green Lakes State Park, so I was thrilled that Devorah and Nick agreed to meet me there to capture some cozy fall pictures in celebration of their impending nuptials.
I originally met Devorah and Nick while photographing Kim and Jeff’s wedding at Hayloft on the Arch. They were such a sweet couple and I was so happy they remembered me and reached out after they got engaged and started the wedding planning process.
We scheduled their engagement session for late fall. Most of the trees at Green Lakes State Park had lost their colorful leaves, but there was still a hint of color in the woods, plus plenty of dark greenery. The best part of this time of year, however, is the blanket of crunchy leaves that covers the forest floor and path. It added such warmth to the pictures!
We started the session overlooking the lake from a small lookout point, then we headed to a section of the trail that’s one of my favorites. The trees create a dark tunnel-like feel that brings a real sense of intimacy to the images. Despite the gray moody sky, these two were a ray of sunshine. They had so much fun during the session, and I captured plenty of laughter.
They changed outfits, then we headed to the other side of the lake. It’s crazy how different the two sides can look depending on the time of day. We made sure to take some photos along the shoreline, nestled among the picture-perfect pampas grass, then we ventured through the woods where dried leaves blanketed the earth.
I love the dip photos we got with the blue lake peeking through the trees in the background. After that, they pulled out a blanket they’d brought so we could grab a few cozy fall pictures of them cuddled up together.
I just know their wedding at Tailwater Lodge this fall is going to be a blast! I can’t wait for their special day.
