Elise + John’s Industrial Wedding at Sinclair of Skaneateles
I was so excited when Elise and John’s wedding day finally arrived! It had felt like forever since we photographed their engagement session (also at the Sinclair of Skaneateles) and it was so good to be back. It was a gorgeous day, and they had planned a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony, followed by a roaring party inside the venue’s industrial wedding reception space.
Elise and her girls started their day in the bridal suite, located on the third floor of the building. The room is absolutely gorgeous, with loads of natural light and beautiful antique plank ceilings. I photographed Elise’s details while everyone bustled around preparing for the day. Meanwhile, John and his groomsmen were at an off-site Airbnb called The Hive, which was roomy and luxurious - perfect for getting ready photos!
Elise and her dad shared a touching father-daughter first look in the stairwell before we headed outside to meet up with John. We set up their first look in the courtyard, which felt super private and charming with string lights hanging overhead and sunlight streaming through the tree branches. I could instantly tell how relieved they were to see each other, and suddenly the excitement kicked in!
We jumped right into wedding party photos, which were a breeze. The guys had some fun by throwing John into the air. It made for some great photos (and thankfully no one got hurt!). Once the wedding party was dismissed, Elise, John, and I wandered around the property, grabbing photos around every corner, and reveling in Elise’s infectious laughter. The sun was so pretty, and made all of the greenery really pop.
The ceremony site was totally picturesque, and I loved all the special details they included. By this point, the sun had set just enough that the space was mostly shaded, with just a sliver of light creating a beautiful glow around the happy couple. The nuptials were full of laughter and included a sand ceremony using a champagne glass. Watching all their family and friends look at them with so much love really warmed my heart.
We took family photos, then everyone enjoyed a lovely cocktail hour while I snapped some pictures of the reception space. I love the mix of modern, rustic, and industrial elements. What an awesome venue! Elise and John were introduced into the reception, followed by dances and toasts. They cut their cake, which was artfully crafted by Stacey of CNY Cake Shop, and it was even more delicious than it looked!
I snapped a few nighttime portraits of Elise and John, then they took the opportunity to add a love lock to the chain link fence at the venue. What a unique tradition! Everyone danced the night away, and finished things off with a sing-off to Meat Loaf’s “Paradise By the Dashboard Light.” It was truly epic. Their entire day was so much fun! I’m honored to have played a small part in their love story.
