Millar Family Winter Photo Shoot at Green Lakes State Park
After photographing Brianna and Bryce’s wedding and pregnancy announcement at Green Lakes State Park, it only made sense when they asked me to do a winter photo shoot with their almost-one-year-old daughter at the exact same place they said “I do.”
One of my favorite things about being a wedding photographer is all of the milestones that happen after the big day. It’s so much more meaningful when I get to take family photos with a couple I’ve known since the beginning. The Millar Family had visit planned, so I was honored when they asked me to put them on the calendar for one more milestone photo shoot!
It was a chilly but manageable early December day, and Brianna and Bryce came prepared. They arrived with a couple of cozy blankets, along with a winter hat and gloves for when their daughter got cold. We started taking photos and it was so easy, like jumping right back in where we left off the year before. I loved watching them interact with each other as this sweet new family.
Brianna and Bryce set up a small wooden chair in almost the exact spot where they exchanged vows. Their daughter sat in the chair by herself so I could grab a few photos of her big toothy grin. After that, we shot a few pictures with all three of them wrapped in a blanket to warm up a bit. We split the parents up to get individual shots of them with their daughter, then walked around Green Lakes State Park a little.
We ended up near the old administration building and took some photos on an old stone staircase, then some with just the woods behind them. It may have been winter, but the forest was as beautiful as always. While heading back to our cars, we made sure to stop along the trail that heads up to Tulip Hill. The light and trees are always the prettiest there!
I loved catching up with these two and meeting their little one. Reconnecting with my couples and watching their lives progress brings me so much happiness!
