Jessica + Paul’s Elegant Barn Wedding at Hayloft on the Arch
Jessica and Paul's elegant barn wedding was a romantic affair filled with personal touches, emotional moments, and a lively celebration at Hayloft on the Arch. From the stunning details to the heartfelt first look and beyond, the day was a perfect reflection of the couple's love. It was a pleasure to be a part of such a beautiful celebration.
We arrived at the Tower at Turning Stone, where Jessica and her bridesmaids were getting ready. The air was buzzing with excitement. As a photographer, my favorite way to start the day is by capturing the little details that make each wedding unique. And Jessica didn't disappoint! She had two entire boxes of personal items ready for me to play with, and I had so much fun creating different combinations of photos with all of her special details.
Once Jessica put on her finishing touches, we all headed over to Hayloft on the Arch to finish getting ready. Jessica got dressed while I set up the bridesmaids for their own special first look. Their excitement when they saw her was so sweet, and I felt honored to capture it all.
After the first look, we moved right into photographing the bridal party. They all looked absolutely stunning, and the color of their dresses and bouquets perfectly complemented the landscape. Jessica looked absolutely radiant in her solo shots too! She and her dad had a quick first look, then he showed us the back of his tie, which featured an old photo of the two of them. How precious!
One of my favorite moments of the day was when Jessica and Paul did a first touch. They held hands around the corner of the building while they read letters they had written to one another. Emotions were running high, but there was also a lot of laughter, and a general sense of relief that they would be seeing each other very soon!
The ceremony itself was a beautiful mix of traditional aspects and personal touches. There were readings, a song, a unity ceremony where family members watered a tree, and of course, personalized vows.
After they said “I do,” we snapped some family photos in front of the arch, then got some pictures of the entire wedding party, which was a lively group! We decided to take Jessica and Paul down towards the river on the property, which was a bit more secluded. The light was absolutely perfect there! I love how delicate and dreamy these photos turned out, while the two of them blissed out on their just-married status.
The reception space was decorated with greenery, plus details from races that Jessica and Paul had completed together. They shared a first dance, and then Jessica's uncle had a special surprise for Paul that really welcomed him into their family. Once dinner was over, we ducked out for a few sunset photos, which felt ultra-magical! I love taking the time out of the reception to create moments like these.
Jessica used to photograph weddings, so when it came time to light the dessert table for some detail shots, she happily stepped in to assist, which was so appreciated! The party lasted all night with epic songs that packed the dance floor, yard games, and fun had by all! Eventually, it was time for Jessica and Paul’s sparkler exit. While everyone else got into place, they shared one last dance together alone in the reception space.
All in all, it was an absolutely magical day, and I'm so honored to have been able to capture these special moments for Jessica and Paul. I can't wait to see how their lives together unfold!
