Devon + Brendan’s Fingerlakes Wedding at Emerson Park Pavilion
Devon and Brendan hosted an elegant fingerlakes wedding at Emerson Park Pavilion on the most perfect early-September day. From the emotional first looks and the lakeside wedding ceremony, to the sunset photos and energetic reception, the entire day was beautiful and memorable.
I met up with Devon and her bridesmaids at Brendan’s family house in Skaneateles. They opted to get ready there so they could spread out and take their time. Meanwhile, Brendan and his crew were putting on their finishing touches at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn. I photographed Devon’s details, then snapped pictures of everyone getting ready. Once Devon was in her dress, we orchestrated a sweet first look between her and her father. Her dog, Dino, might’ve been even more excited than Devon to see her dad! The whole thing made for some very special photos.
The girls and I piled into the limo and headed to Emerson Park to meet Brendan for the first look. We had plenty of space to spread out for the big moment, making sure to capture all the angles and expressions as Devon and Brendan saw each other for the first time. They shared a quiet moment in between the trees with the lake off in the distance before the bustle of the day began. We took wedding party portraits, which were so effortless with this group, then went inside to hide away for a bit. They got the chance to pre-sign their marriage license and practice their first dance.
Emerson Park has an absolutely gorgeous lakeside wedding setup with the fountain and flowers in the center and the lake in the background. Devon and Brendan’s family and friends laughed and cried while personal vows were exchanged. It was apparent to everyone how in love these two are. They shared their first kiss, then Devon got stung by a bee! (Hopefully that’s some sort of good luck omen?!) They practically skipped down the aisle, then shared another kiss with the guests in the background - one of my favorite photos from the entire day!
We got to duck away for some more photos while guests enjoyed the cocktail hour. I loved that the golden light appeared for us after a long day of clouds. The sunset photos turned into such magical moments!
The wedding party’s introduction into the reception was hilarious. They really put a lot of thought and effort into making it memorable. The dances that followed were full of special moments and damp eyes. The speeches were heartfelt and funny, ending with Devon and Brendan getting “iced” by the Maid of Honor in a moment of surprise.
Once dinner was over and dancing had begun, there was a special guest of honor - the Syracuse University mascot, Otto. He was a major crowd-pleaser on the dance floor. I made sure to get a photo with all of the SU alumni before the night was over!
Congratulations to Devon and Brendan. I wish the two of you a lifetime of happiness!
