Brittany + Patrick’s Lakeside Wedding at Green Lakes State Park
I was so excited leading up to Brittany and Patrick’s big day. I had no doubt that their lakeside wedding at Green Lakes State Park would be anything other than full of adventure, joy, and of course love.
I arrived early at the Old Administration Building, a beautifully rustic stone structure filled with old wood beams. Patrick was inside preparing the space for their wedding reception. I chatted with him for a few minutes, then Brittany arrived, and it was time to get situated and prepare for the day ahead.
Brittany’s details and dress were the first things I photographed while she finished getting ready. I loved working with all the pink flowers and details, and her heart-shaped lipstick felt absolutely perfect for the occasion.
We orchestrated a private first look behind the building, with the forest as our backdrop. It really helped to calm Brittany and Patrick’s nerves and remind them what this whole day was about. Wedding days can be so full of emotions, and first looks are a fantastic way to re-center with the person you love before walking down the aisle and spending the rest of the day as the center of attention.
They wanted to bring their two dogs to their wedding, so I made sure to include them in some of the photos. We snapped a handful of pictures both outside and in, then had to disperse because it was ceremony time!
The ceremony setup was gorgeous. A hexagonal arch overlooked the lake, and guests were met with a drink station and little bags of trail mix, which perfectly complemented the state park wedding. The sun was shining down on everything, making the blue hue of the lake really stand out. After reading their vows, Brittany and Patrick’s hands were tied together, and their marriage was sealed with a kiss.
Once the ceremony was over, we ducked away for some just-married photos. The vibe can change so much in just an hour’s time. I loved the blissful glow these two were giving off now that the “hard part” was over!
Guests poured into the reception space and helped themselves to the signature drink, a Green Lakes-inspired cocktail that was as blue as the lake itself! Brittany and Patrick entered, then shared a first dance, followed by dances with each of their mothers. Patrick’s Dad and Brittany’s Maid of Honor gave speeches that filled the entire room with laughter. The newlyweds cut their beautiful wedding cake, then did the shoe game.
A little while after the dance floor had opened up, the three of us snuck outside for some golden hour portraits. I love giving my couples a break from the party. It’s such a fun time for them to catch up and just enjoy each other’s company. We walked along the trail for a bit, snapping pictures here and there before grabbing some final photos of Brittany in her custom bride jean jacket.
This was such a special day in one of my absolute favorite places. I am so honored that I was able to document this day, and I wish Brittany and Patrick a lifetime of happiness!
