Elizabeth + Kevin’s Anniversary Photoshoot at Lorenzo State Historic Site

It’s not often I get to do an anniversary photoshoot just one year into a marriage, so it was such a pleasure meeting up with Elizabeth and Kevin for this special occasion. We chose Lorenzo State Historic Site in Cazenovia, NY for the shoot because it has a little bit of everything - buildings, gardens, trees, and more. There are infinite beautiful backdrops and lots of benches too. They wanted a session that would not only be a celebration of their first anniversary, but would feel 100% like them, and they were confident I would deliver!

Elizabeth and I actually grew up two houses away from each other, so it was so much fun catching up with an old friend. I’ve been watching their journey together from dating to engaged and beyond, but it was wonderful to really take some time to get to know Kevin and them as a couple.

This anniversary photoshoot was so effortless! We started by the buildings and just wandered the grounds, taking our time and enjoying each spot we came across. We made our way to the gardens and chatted about all the flowers and plants we saw. Elizabeth and Kevin took mental notes while discussing their landscaping plans for their new house. They loved the pink flowering bushes, so I made sure to grab a few photos with those in the shot.

I completely adored their timeless all-black outfits. I usually recommend neutral colors for my couples’ sessions, and you can see why. They look amazing in every single setting, and the formal attire really elevated the entire session.

The sunset was stunning as the evening went on, so we took advance of it peeking through the trees. I loved how both of them wanted to twirl each other over and over again. It kept the mood light and made for some fantastic laughing photos!

When the sun was almost gone, we finished things off by cutting an anniversary cake. Elizabeth and Kevin didn’t have cake at their wedding and felt like they’d missed out on this wedding tradition. So we took the opportunity to end their anniversary photoshoot with a fun little cake smash. Despite the formal attire, there was no holding back! Both of them ended up with cake all over their faces, and the shoot was over (obviously).
