Lizzy + Alex Rainy Engagement Photos in Skaneateles
It’s an unusual situation when I find myself talking to a client about wedding photography months before they’re even engaged, but that’s how I met Lizzy. She and Alex knew they wanted a short engagement, and they also knew they wanted the proposal to be a surprise, so wedding planning kicked off without a ring. I had a great time meeting up with them in Skaneateles for some rainy engagement photos once the big question had finally been popped!
As for the proposal… it happened one snowy evening on their way to dinner in Auburn. Alex told Lizzy he needed to make a quick stop first, so they drove over to Casey Park (a frequent date-night location of theirs), where he had strung up Christmas lights in the snow-covered trees. He asked Lizzy to marry him beneath the twinkling lights, and boy was she surprised! What a magical setting in which to say “yes.”
The town of Skaneateles is so picturesque. Between the waterfront park and the adorable shops, it was the perfect location for their engagement session. Not only that, but it’s a meaningful spot for Alex and Lizzy, as they would often meet up there for dates.
It was a misty morning in April, and the three of us wandered the streets along with their dog, Jackson. So many couples are afraid of ending up with rainy engagement photos, but they can be so much fun! On this day, there was plenty of laughter to go around and brighten up the gray skies. One of their friends met up with us to act as dog-wrangler for a bit so I could grab some photos of just the two of them (this is always a good idea when planning engagement photos with dog or tiny humans!).
My favorite photos of the entire shoot were the ones we took in front of the lake and gazebo. It’s so apparent that these two are utterly perfect for each other, and I can’t wait for their brunch wedding this fall!
