Shelby + Devin, Untraditional Engagement Session in Skaneatles

As a Syracuse wedding photographer, I'm always excited to document love stories in beautiful locations. Shelby and Devin, my last couple to book for 2024, planned their engagement session for May when the trees were lush and green again. They traveled from Buffalo to Skaneateles, eager to capture some epic photos.

We started the session at Carpenter’s Falls, surrounded by abundant greenery. The accessible boardwalk leading to the falls provided the perfect backdrop for their photos. Devin, dressed in all black, and Shelby, in all white, created a striking light and dark contrast. Their chemistry made taking pictures effortless.

Our next stop was the charming village of Skaneateles. At Clift Park, we found multiple picturesque backdrops, including a flowering bush, stonework, trees, a gazebo, and the stunning Skaneateles Lake. Shelby and Devin changed into custom Converse sneakers, each pair uniquely personalized with phrases like “Till death do us part” and “My Always” and “Forever” on the soles. Shelby's creative idea of having Devin cut the bottom of her dress for a shorter, more casual look was a sweet moment to document.

To wrap up the session, we headed to Skaneateles Brewery. They enjoyed a pint together, and we captured some final candid moments at the brewery. The relaxed atmosphere made for a fun and memorable end to our time together. Engagement sessions should feel like a fun date, and this one certainly did!

I’m looking forward to capturing Shelby and Devin’s intimate backyard wedding this July. If you’re searching for a Syracuse wedding photographer, I’d love to help you create beautiful memories of your special day.
