Shawna + Adam’s Waterfall Photo Shoot at Pixley Falls
When we selected Shawna and Adam to model for our styled shoot at The Lookout at Hope Lake, they weren’t even engaged at the time. But the photoshoot went so well for all of us, that when Adam finally proposed to Shawna, I was the first photographer that popped into their minds. I was ecstatic to hear from them, and we got right to work planning their engagement session!
When we discussing locations, I threw out a handful of my go-to places for engagement photos, but I also suggested Pixley Falls. I had actually never been there, but I knew they had, and they immediately agreed that it would be the perfect spot.
The day of the shoot, while we had planned for sunset photos, the clouds had other ideas. But as I often tell my couples, gray skies can actually make for some of the best photos! There was another photographer taking photos by the waterfall when we arrived, so we started off in the forest, taking pictures among the lush greenery.
Once it was our turn, we made the most of the stunning waterfall. I had Shawna and Adam sit on a log with the falls in the background, then we walked around the area a bit. I loved how many images I got of them laughing together! We took a break for a few minutes, and I found the prettiest spot nearby with little white wildflowers to take some photos of Shawna’s ring. It was the perfect little setup to really make the green in her ring “pop!”
After we had exhausted all the waterfall photos, we headed back to Adam’s truck. His one request for the session was that we take some photos with the truck, which belonged to his grandfather and had been in their family for decades. So they climbed into the bed of the truck, which they had filled with mums. What a great idea! I loved the shots of them framed by the flowers.
We finished things up with them inside the truck, and I adore how some of the photos turned out when I was shooting their reflection in the side mirror. After we were done, we went out for ice cream so we could discuss their wedding plans before heading back to Syracuse.
These two are adorable and so sweet. I can’t wait for their wedding this fall!
